Milwaukee Area Riichi Mahjong is the premier Riichi club of Southeastern Wisconsin! Join us on most Sundays at Vennture Brew Co. in Brookfield to play this game of tiles, probability, and strategy.
Whether you are coming from a background of never having played Mahjong, having played other variants but not Riichi, or having played Riichi on a video game but never in-person, we will get you up to speed to enjoy playing the Riichi Mahjong at our meetups!
How We Started
Milwaukee Area Riichi Mahjong was started in September 2025 by four individuals who wanted to have a regular meetup to play Riichi Mahjong.
Meetups originally consisted of bringing a black folding card table into one of the conference rooms of the Wauwatosa Public Library and playing a game of Riichi, severely time-limited by the fleeting open hours of the Wauwatosa Public Library.
Nowadays, meetups of Milwaukee Area Riichi Mahjong have multiple tables of gameplay going at the same time, at Vennture Brew Co in Brookfield where players can sip on a beer or a coffee while throwing tiles.
The 5th Sunday Special Event
Milwaukee Area Riichi Mahjong regularly meets up on Sundays to host tables of Riichi Mahjong. But whenever a month has five sundays, then the 5th Sunday is dedicated to having some sort of special event based around Riichi Mahjong.
Previous 5th Sunday special events include playing old Riichi video games, having a Riichi 1v1 Battle Royale, and playing Riichi but introducing bad rule changes every 30 minutes.
