Information About the Riichi Tournament

Celebrate what has been a year for explosive growth for Asian-style Mahjong in the Milwaukee area by participating in the End Of The Year Tournament Series! Milwaukee Area Riichi Mahjong will be hosting the Riichi leg of the tournament series. The tournament will have a semi-serious tone with bare minimum penalties, intended for Milwaukee area Riichi players to have their first exposure to Riichi tournament play.

Date: Saturday, December 12th

Venue: The upstairs space at Vennture Brew Co in Brookfield, 2970 N Brookfield Rd, Brookfield, WI 53045

Registration

Entry Fee: none!

Attendance Cap: 20 players

Registration will be open only to Milwaukee area players first before registration is open to all players all over at a later date.

You may be waitlisted if you sign up after the cap of 20 players has been hit.

Milwaukee area players will get first priority to come off of the waitlist ahead of players outside of the Milwaukee area.

Rules

This tournament will use the 2025 WRC rules with the following modifications:

• Three Red Fives (Mod 2.1)

• 30/10 Uma (Mod 4.1)

• Bare Minimum Penalties (Mod 6.3)

Prizes

Finishers 1st-3rd will get eternal bragging rights that they stood on the podium of MARM’s first local tournament!

They will also be awarded some trophies I guess

Tournament Format

Format: Four-hanchan scramble with no playoffs. Pairings will be determined using Good Enough Golfers.

100 minutes + 0 will be allotted to each hanchan.
